SWAM — Smart Waste AI Monitoring

IoT and AI-powered smart waste monitoring system featuring a custom-built low-level transmission protocol connecting ESP32-CAM nodes via 433 MHz LoRa to an ASP.NET Core API and AI server.

Architecture Spec

03

Role & Delivery

Protocol Designer & Software Engineer

Problem Statement

Transmit compressed sensor data and JPEG images from low-power remote waste containers across urban areas with limited cellular connectivity and high packet loss.

Engineering Approach

Designed and developed the custom SWAM communication protocol from scratch over LoRa (RA-01 SX1278), implementing 200-byte packetization, 10-retry fault tolerance, mesh routing cost metrics, and ASP.NET API bridge.

Verified Outcomes

Awarded Grade: Excellent. Successfully demonstrated low-power image packet transmission, sensor monitoring, and automated server-side data ingestion.
